OVER 6,500 VOLUNTEERS SIGN UP TO LIMERICK’S BIGGEST CLEAN-UP (TLC)

Paul O’Connell and JP McManus announced today, Tuesday 3rd March that over 6,500 volunteers have signed up to Team limerick Clean-up (TLC) to date. They were joined by Chief Executive, Limerick City & County Council, Conn Murray and volunteers at St Munchin’s Community Centre, Thomondgate where they celebrated with a large TLC cake.

Preparations are also underway for Limerick’s largest ever tea/coffee morning, which will take place at locations across the city and county following the Good Friday clean-up.

Commenting on the news, sponsor of TLC, JP McManus said; “We are absolutely delighted with the response we have received from people throughout Limerick. It has exceeded all our expectations and shows great spirit and pride in our county. We look forward to getting out and doing our bit on Good Friday and hopefully making this an annual occasion for every to enjoy”.

He added: “The closing date to register is March 23rd, so we would urge anyone who hasn’t already signed up to get on board and be part of what promises to be a great day.”

Paul O’Connell added: “this is more than just a clean-up initiative, it is also an opportunity for everyone involved to promote a sense of ‘can-do’ attitude. The post-event refreshments will provide a great way for people to meet up after the clean-up in a fun and social environment.”

TLC refreshments will be served at St Munchin’s Community Centre and other locations throughout the city and county – details of which will be announced next week.

The Team Limerick Clean-up initiative is co-ordinated by Limerick City and County Council with the support of Mr Binman; the Limerick Leader and Live 95FM.
