Biggest ever clean-up day for the county set to attract thousands of people
A major clean-up day for Limerick City and County was launched today (Tuesday 16th September) by Munster rugby legend Paul O’Connell. The Limerick Clean-up (TLC), is an initiative sponsored by the JP McManus Benevolent Fund, and supported by Limerick City and County Council. The scheme will be urging all members of the public to get together on Good Friday, 3rd April 2015 to collect and recycle litter in their local area in an effort to tidy up the city and county.
Endorsed by Paul O’Connell, a pro-active public information campaign will be rolled out over the coming months to inform and encourage participation at all levels. The TLC official partners include Mr Binman; the Limerick Leader and Live 95FM.
The TLC was launched at the Going 4 Gold grand finale which took plain the Strand Hotel, Limerick.
Commenting at the launch, Paul O’Connell said: “this has to be one of the most exciting campaigns ever to hit Limerick, and we hope people will come out in force to do their bit to clean up the environment. It only requires a few hours of time on Good Friday and getting involved promises to be great fun as well as very worthwhile. Volunteers can sign up easily on www.teamlimerickcleanup.ie or simply call the helpline on 061 496200 so remember the date and help make a difference!”
Sue Ann Foley, Chairperson of the JP McManus Benevolent Fund said; “we are delighted to sponsor the TLC initiative and we hope that as many people as possible will get involved to make this a real ‘team event’. This will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our city and county and we are very grateful to all those involved for making it happen. I would like thank the Limerick Council for their support and assistance in the campaign and we look forward to working with them over the coming months.”
TLC has a dedicated website www.teamlimerickcleanup.ie ; an information hotline,
061 496200 and email address, tlc@limerick.ie. Clean-up packs will be available for all those who register from February 2015 from outlets around the city and county.
